Full Russian language immersion in the European Union
Learn Russian in the EU operates in Daugavpils, Latvia. Daugavpils is the second largest city in Latvia and the perfect location for Russian language immersions. It is a unique place – a Russian-language enclave, where nearly everyone speaks standard modern Russian as his or her native or primary language. Russian is the language of everyday communication in Daugavpils.Daugavpils was once part of both the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. The city has a remarkable historical legacy tied to Russia and Russian-European relations.
No other currently available study abroad location may offer a comparable combination of urban environment, nature, landscape, and lifestyle, which would be that close to cities in Central Russia. Students studying in Daugavpils will develop a much better understanding of Russian culture, traditions, and the way of life.

Host families
Learn Russian in the EU operates a whole system of carefully selected, vetted, trained, and monitored Russian host families.
Lodging with Russian-speaking host families is a core features of Learn Russian in the EU study abroad programs. Being treated as a member of a family gives students an ideal opportunity to practice Russian in an authentic environment and to experience firsthand the Russian way of life.
Excursions, study trips, and cultural program
One of our goals is introducing students to the ethnic, historical, and cultural diversity of Daugavpils and Latvia in the context of their historical and contemporary relations with Russia.
Learn Russian in the EU semester abroad and other long-term programs include many short excursions on weekday, as well as several study trip destinations. Usually, we offer long weekend study trips around Latvia and neighboring Lithuania and Estonia.
Our staff frequently publishes information on concerts, exhibitions, shows at Daugavpils Theater, sports, and other events, which may be interesting to the students and contribute to their study abroad experience.

Learn Russian in the EU staff provides a 24/7 support to all students. We are always reachable and ready to help.
In order to ensure comprehensive student services, we collaborate with major healthcare institutions, carefully selected hotels, as well as reliable transportation, insurance, and catering providers across the region.
Our students’ safety and health are our primary tasks. We offer local health insurance and help with doctor appointments, provide transportation and interpreter services.
Among other core services, we can provide group and individual transfers from Riga airport, local SIM cards, organize group lunches, provide monthly passes to transportation and gyms, and more.
