The on-site orientation opens the program. This session will introduce you to the academic program, history, culture, and unique features of our region, living with a host family, health and safety issues. We also take our students for a walking tour around Daugavpils to help them find shops, restaurants, gyms, and other places of interest.
Students receive a comprehensive welcome kit with reference materials, including of the Student Handbook and Tour Descriptions, maps, and stationery.
High-speed Wi-Fi is available in classrooms, host families, and all public places, café, libraries, intercity buses, and trains.
A local SIM card with mobile Internet access is included in the Welcome kit.
Daugavpils is close to several countries and Latvia is a member of the Schengen Agreement. Students can take advantage of this to arrange their independent travel. Visa-free trips to Helsinki, Stockholm, Warsaw, Prague, and Berlin have been among the most popular of our students’ choices.
A typical semester program includes extended weekend student trips around Latvia and to the capital city of Riga, Vilnius, Kaunas, and Trakai in Lithuania, Tallinn in Estonia.
This experience will provide students with a better understanding of complex relations between Baltic nations and major European powers throughout history.
Hotel lodging is included in the program fee.
The program includes the Daugavpils walking tour, excursions to the Church Hill, Daugavpils Fortress, Mark Rothko Art Center, 20th Century wars military memorials, the Holocaust Memorial, Russian Old Believers ethnographic site, and other destinations in Daugavpils and surroundings.
Absolutely! Daugavpils can offer diverse cultural opportunities. Daugavpils Theater drama and musical performances in Russian, Mark Rothko Art Center exhibitions, concerts, and festivals will give you an insight into cultural life of Daugavpils. Our culture manager prepares event information and helps in obtaining the tickets.
Our dedicated manager will arrange sports events, help you find the best option for your routine exercises, and take you to exciting competitions.
Of course, visiting an authentic Russian banya (steam house) is also available!
“Learn Russian in the EU” partners with Russian-speaking host families. These families offer much more than convenient lodging and good meals for our international students – they are integral to the program’s language training Living with a host family will give students an unforgettable linguistic and cultural experience.
Accommodation with Russian-speaking host families comes with breakfast and dinner on workdays and three meals on weekends.
Students may also count on assistance in finding an individual rental apartment if desired.
Our invoices will be uploaded to the personal student account.
The semester fee is payable in two 50% installments. The first payment must be completed before the program begins and the second payment is expected within 6 weeks of the start of the semester program.
We recommend making card payments through the student account. Bank wire transfer is also possible.
The Tuition Fee includes all activities and services related to delivering the selected study program: in-class tuition, excursions, long stay visa, in-country support services, and etc.
The other components are the host family lodging with breakfast and dinner, books and materials, local transportation pass, and local insurance.
The Participation Confirmation payment reserves your spot and allows us make initial reservations and planning for running your program. The Participation Confirmation Fee is a non-refundable payment.
All our teachers are native Russian speakers. They all hold Master or Doctoral degree in teaching Russian, foreign language teaching, Russian literature, or Russian linguistics. All our teachers have at least 8 years of experience in teaching the Russian language to foreign students. Many of them are Daugavpils University professors.
Our courses are available in-person.
Individual one-on-one programs are typical to “Learn Russian in the EU”. One-on-one programs are extremely efficient.
